Mortgage Financing

INTRODUCTION

Mortgage lending is the major mechanism used in many countries to finance private ownership of residential and commercial properties. Development of real estate sector has not become evident in many towns and cities in Tanzania. The Government of Tanzania in collaboration with the International Development Association (IDA) started a Housing Finance Project (HFP) in March 2010 in a bid to develop further the mortgage market. A number of initiatives have been implemented in this regard, including the development of capacity building programme aimed at bridging the knowledge gap amongst various players in the mortgage market, which has partly been contributing to slower pace of growth of the market.
The initiatives have resulted into steady growth of the mortgage market in Tanzania as the pace of housing investment picks up. In the same line, the use of mortgage loans for developing private homes or commercial properties is now gaining popularity in banking institutions and other stakeholders. Tanzania has witnessed many banking institutions coming up with mortgage lending product. As part of continuation of the initiatives under the HFP, the Bank of Tanzania Training Institute in collaboration with Directorate of Strategic Planning and Performance Review have organized training on Mortgage Finance for banking institutions and other relevant practitioners.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of the course, participants will be able to maintain quality mortgage portfolio in line with the Mortgage Refinancing Regulations, 2015 and other applicable best practices.
TARGET GROUP
Senior and middle level officers in the banking institutions who are involved in mortgage activities, Legal practitioners and individuals or private companies dealing in real estate.

Five days training from 20th to 24th March 2017. First day Registration starts at 8.30 AM

FEES
Fees for each participant is TZS 750,000.00 covering tuition, course materials, lunch and mid-session refreshments (tea/coffee & snacks). Participants will be responsible for their travel costs and upkeep.
