Operational Risks and Forensic Accounting in Banks

INTRODUCTION

The Bank of Tanzania has among its major responsibility to oversee the growth of sound and stable financial system that contributes positively to growth of the national economy. Good governance of banks and other players in the financial sector guarantees for those banks and other financial institutions to operate in a healthy and conducive environment particularly with compliance to BoT regulations. 

To do this, the Bank of Tanzania takes seriously how banks and other financial institutions manage operational risks and how well they apply forensic accounting principles for minimizing exposures to risks that may impair operation of those institutions. This course intends to expose staff of banks and other financial institutions to the practical ways of mitigating and manage operational risk in providing financial services.

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE


  • To review perspectives and frameworks of operational risk and forensic accounting in financial services sector and particularly in banking
  • To identify key or categories and examine key drivers of operational risk
  • To discuss strategies and ways for measuring or and assessing their impacts
  • To develop techniques of mitigating or and enhancing Forensic accounting in major business areas of banking: credit, treasury, cash etc.
