INTRODUCTION

Foreign Exchange Act, 1992 empowers the Bank of Tanzania to oversee all operations relating to foreign exchange and dealing in foreign currencies in Tanzania. It is the interest of the Bank of Tanzania to ensure that all players in foreign exchange market comply with existing legal and regulatory framework with the view of attaining sustainable foreign exchange regime that will support efforts toward maintaining stable, sound and safe financial system.

OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE

Objective of the course is to enable participants acquire necessary skills relating to foreign currency operations. The course will also enable participants to acquire knowledge on the legal and regulatory requirements as far as foreign exchange regime in the country is concerned.

COURSE CONTENTS

 

  • Course participants will be exposed to the following:
  • Overview of Bureaux de Change Legal requirements
  • Overview of Bureaux de Change Regulatory Requirements – The Foreign Exchange (Bureaux de Change) 2008
  • Security requirements for Bureaux de Change Operations
  • Anti Money Laundering Law and Regulations – Applicability to Bureaux de Change
  • Records management and reporting of suspicious transactions to law enforcement agencies
  • Contemporary issues in foreign exchange regime
  • Foreign exchange operations reporting requirements and submission of returns to BoT through electronic system.

 

WHO ARE TO ATTEND

The course is designed for owner, Directors, Managers and Operators of foreign currency bureau de change and other interest stakeholders in the foreign exchange market.
